The feeling of stepping into rooms that stretch you.
The feeling of using your voice in ways you haven’t before.
The feeling of becoming someone you’ve never been.
And if we’re honest, confidence doesn’t always feel like confidence in the beginning. Sometimes it feels like discomfort. Sometimes it feels like uncertainty. Sometimes it feels like, “Am I really ready for this?”
But what if that unfamiliar feeling isn’t a sign to stop…
What if it’s a signal that you’re expanding?
In Success Is In Your Reach, I talk about how confidence is not something you wait for, it’s something you build. And the truth is, anything you’ve never done before will feel unfamiliar at first. That doesn’t mean it’s not for you. It means you’re growing into it.
There was a season in my life where I found myself in spaces I had once prayed for, but when I got there, I felt stretched in ways I didn’t expect. I had the experience. I had the preparation. But internally, I was still adjusting to the weight of what I had stepped into.
And I remember thinking, “Why does this feel so uncomfortable if this is where I’m supposed to be?”
The answer was simple, but powerful:
Because I had never been here before.
Growth will always introduce you to a version of yourself that feels unfamiliar at first. And if you’re not careful, you’ll mistake unfamiliarity for misalignment. You’ll second-guess your progress. You’ll question your readiness. You’ll consider stepping back into what feels easier, simply because it feels known.
But ease is not the evidence of purpose, growth is.
The shift happened when I stopped asking, “Why does this feel uncomfortable?” and started asking, “What is this growing me into?”
That question changed everything.
Instead of retreating, I leaned in.
Instead of doubting, I developed.
Instead of shrinking, I stretched.
And over time, what once felt unfamiliar became natural, not because the opportunity changed, but because I did.
Here’s what I want you to reflect on this week:
I embrace growth, even when it feels unfamiliar.
I trust the process that is shaping me.
I am becoming who I need to be for where I’m going.
I don’t have to feel comfortable to be called.
I don’t have to feel confident to keep going.
I just have to be willing to grow.
Because success doesn’t always feel familiar at first…
But that doesn’t mean it isn’t yours.
