Not dissatisfaction.
Not frustration.
Not even burnout.
Just a quiet realization that you’ve changed.
The conversations that once energized you no longer challenge you. The environments that once stretched you now feel familiar. The goals that once motivated you no longer ignite the same passion.
And if we’re honest, that realization can be unsettling.
Because growth has a way of creating tension between where you’ve been and where you’re called to go.
In Success Is In Your Reach, I talk about the importance of alignment. Success is not simply about achieving more. It’s about ensuring that who you are becoming is aligned with where you’re investing your time, energy, and talents.
Sometimes the reason you feel restless isn’t because something is wrong.
It’s because you’ve grown.
There have been seasons in my own life when I found myself feeling disconnected from spaces that once felt right. At first, I questioned myself. Was I being ungrateful? Was I expecting too much? Was I simply going through a phase?
But after prayer, reflection, and honest self-assessment, I realized something important:
The room hadn’t changed. I had.
My experiences had expanded me.
My leadership had matured.
My perspective had evolved.
What once fit perfectly no longer reflected the person I was becoming.
That realization wasn’t an invitation to abandon everything. It was an invitation to evaluate whether my gifts were being fully utilized and whether my environment was still aligned with my purpose.
Many people stay in places long after they’ve outgrown them because familiarity feels safer than change.
We stay in jobs that no longer challenge us.
We maintain relationships that no longer sharpen us.
We cling to versions of ourselves that no longer reflect who we’re becoming.
Not because we’re incapable of more.
Because transition requires courage.
The shift happened when I stopped asking, “How do I make this fit?” and started asking, “Where can my gifts create the greatest impact?”
That question changed my perspective.
Success is not about forcing yourself to remain where you’re comfortable.
It’s about positioning yourself where your gifts can flourish.
And flourishing requires honesty.
It requires acknowledging when you’ve grown.
It requires embracing new opportunities.
It requires trusting that God did not develop your gifts for them to remain dormant.
Your gifts were given to serve a purpose.
Not to sit on a shelf.
Not to stay hidden.
Not to remain confined by fear.
But to create impact.
So if you’ve been feeling restless lately, don’t immediately assume something is wrong.
Ask yourself:
What if this feeling is actually growth?
What if God is preparing me for a greater assignment?
What if my gifts are calling me toward a larger purpose?
I honor the gifts God has placed within me.
I trust the growth He is creating in my life.
I will not remain where I am merely comfortable when I am called to create impact.
Success is not found in staying the same.
It is found in becoming who you were created to be.
And that future is still within your reach.
